24/7 care at Akaroa Health Centre.

Call Fiona, Pare or Annette, our reception team, on 033047004 to make an appointment or email

Appointment information:

Please report to reception counter on arrival.

Our Standard appointment times are 15 minutes.

Sometimes despite our best intentions, we may run late. This may be because a patient has needed an unexpectedly long consultation time or because we have “fitted in” an acutely sick patient needing urgent attention, we have called out to an accident or because a patient before you arrived late.

We will do our best to minimise the wait time and apologise for any inconvenience if we have to ask you to wait.

Akaroa Health Centre wants to provide the best quality care. There are a few things you can do to help us do that:

Call 033047004 or email

Please arrive on time and let reception know you are here. If you are concerned that your GP may be running late you are welcome to call reception in advance to check. If you arrive late the receptionist will check with the doctor to see if they are still able to see you, please do not be offended if we request that you reschedule your appointment.

Our standard appointments are booked at 15-minute intervals. Please be realistic about what can be covered in a 15-minute consultation. For good quality of care this will be 1 or 2 issues. Only book one patient per appointment.

If you think that you will need longer than 15 minutes please let the receptionists know when you phone for an appointment and they can book you for a double appointment. If you have a large number of health issues or major concerns to discuss with your doctor it helps to make a note of the items you want to be covered.

Some procedures will always require more than one 15-minute appointment. Please check with the receptionist or nurse. An extra charge will apply for the extra time.

Where possible please plan ahead: eg. book an appointment or request a repeat prescription well before your medication is due to run out.

Fees and payment

We accept all major credit cards (except American Express), EFTPOS, cash and cheque.

We accept online payments: BNZ 02-0832-0063776-00. Please always state your name and invoice number when paying online.

In New Zealand, the Ministry of Health subsidises primary health care services but people can only choose one Medical Practice to provide them with subsidised care. People are free to see as many doctors as they wish but will only receive subsidised care at one practice.
