Statement of Use for External Security Cameras at Akaroa Health

Akaroa Health is committed to ensuring the safety and security of our patients, staff, visitors, and property. To support this commitment, we have installed external-facing security cameras on our premises.

Purpose: The primary purpose of these security cameras is to:

  • Monitor and deter unauthorized access to the facility.

  • Enhance the security of our patients, staff, and visitors.

  • Protect the property from theft, vandalism, and other security breaches.

  • Support the response to any incidents or emergencies that may arise.

Scope:

  • The security cameras are positioned to monitor external areas of the Akaroa Health facility, including entrances, parking lots, and surrounding perimeters.

  • The cameras are focused on public spaces and do not capture footage from private areas where there is an expectation of privacy, such as restrooms or private patient rooms.

Data Use and Retention:

  • Footage captured by the security cameras will be stored securely and accessed only by authorized personnel for legitimate security and safety purposes.

  • Recorded footage will be retained for a period consistent with our data retention policy and will be deleted or overwritten after this period unless it is required for an ongoing investigation.
